COMMUNITY GOAL: Together we can increase access to affordable health care in Southwestern Indiana.
THE ISSUE: According to the most recent Community Needs Assessment, the rising cost of healthcare is a primary concern for our community. The number of local working families and individuals who are unable to afford adequate insurance increases every year.
United Way is increasing access to affordable health care in Southwestern Indiana by:
• Increasing awareness and access to basic and mental health care programs.
• Reducing unnecessary ER visits by promoting preventative care.
• Increasing ability of elderly and disabled individuals to live independent lives.
KEY STRATEGIES: United Way’s 2-1-1 Information & Referral Help Line connects people seeking health care with local resources. Our 2-1-1 specialists use a vast database of community programs to help individuals locate basic and mental health programs.
